Happy Summer 2020!

Greetings fellow coffee drinkers!
In time for summer, Sláinte Coffee has a new Ethiopia Yirgacheffe to offer, the Kebele Foge is an organic bean featured best at a light roast. At our cupping, we noted a mild sweetness and smooth mouthfeel with hints of toast and honey. Find it now available on our website.


Now that summer is officially here and the days are really heating up, we wanted to try a cooler option for our coffee intake. Here is a recipe for a healthy coffee smoothie that was delish! It uses dates as an alternative to sugar for sweetness. I've been wanting to try using dates for a sugar substitute in my baking (I'll let you know how it turns out whenever I get around to baking something!). I can say that it worked brilliantly in this smoothie anyway!

~Creamy Date Coffee Smoothie~

1 Banana (fresh or frozen)
3 Medjool dates
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 large handful of ice
1 cup black coffee (you can use cold brew or just brewed coffee that has cooled in the fridge)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. I had to shake it and blend a few times to get the dates mixed in well. Makes 4 cups. We used decaf brewed coffee and enjoyed this smoothie as an afternoon refresher along with a spirited game of chess!
